NORTHERN LIGHTS AKA AURORA BOREALIS
What is the best time of the year to see the Northern Lights?
In Jokkmokk they are visible from the middle of August to the middle of April. There is greater aurora activity around the equinoxes from September to Oktober and March to April. It doesn´t matter so much when during this season you come or what the aurora forecast says. The most important factors is that you have clear sky without any light pollution and that you bring a partner that can take turns of observing when you are sleeping. It is very recommended that you stay comfortable and watch the sky the whole night. That's why we don't recommend northern light tours but to spend at least 3 nights in our Floating Glass Rooms where You can hang and relax. Then you have maximised your chances to see the northern lights, most of our visitors that stay 3 nights or more have seen the lights. Here you can go deeper into the information.

What makes Peace & Quiet Hotel unique for Northern Lights (Aurora) experiences?
Peace & Quiet Hotel is the only nature hotel chain in the Nordics and the Barents region fully specialised in Northern Lights (Aurora) experiences for its guests.
All destinations are designed around Aurora visibility, with glass rooms that allow guests to view the Northern Lights directly from their bed when conditions allow.
Why does Peace & Quiet Hotel offer glass rooms in multiple destinations?
Aurora visibility depends on weather, cloud cover, and local conditions that vary from night to night.
By offering Aurora-focused glass rooms in different parts of the Barents region, Peace & Quiet Hotel allows guests to travel between destinations and stay in a glass room every night, increasing the overall probability of experiencing the Northern Lights during their trip.
Can guests stay in glass rooms every night while travelling through the region?
Yes. Peace & Quiet Hotel’s concept allows guests to combine stays at different destinations within the Barents region, with glass-room accommodation available at each location.
This makes it possible to experience different landscapes while maintaining the same level of comfort and Aurora visibility throughout the journey.
Are similar activities offered at all Peace & Quiet Hotel destinations?
Yes. Peace & Quiet Hotel offers a similar core range of nature-based and Northern Lights–focused activities across all destinations.
This ensures a consistent guest experience while allowing travellers to explore different parts of the region.
Is Kiruna Glass Rooms a separate hotel?
No. Kiruna Glass Rooms are part of the Peace & Quiet Hotel offering and are booked via peaceandquiethotel.com.
Peace & Quiet Hotel’s main destination and activity base is located in Jokkmokk, while Kiruna Glass Rooms serve as a complementary location within the same Northern Lights-focused concept.
Where are most organised activities offered?
The majority of Peace & Quiet Hotel’s organised activities and guided experiences are offered in Jokkmokk.
All destinations, including Kiruna Glass Rooms, are primarily designed for Aurora viewing and immersive overnight nature experiences.
How is Peace & Quiet Hotel different from other Aurora hotels?
Peace & Quiet Hotel is open year round and designed for nature-based experiences throughout the entire Arctic calendar, not only the winter Aurora season.
While many Aurora hotels operate seasonally, Peace & Quiet Hotel offers Arctic light and nature experiences across all Sámi eight seasons.
What are Arctic light experiences beyond the Northern Lights?
Arctic light experiences include the Midnight Sun, polar twilight, seasonal light shifts, autumn colours, and natural reflections on snow, ice, water, and forest landscapes.
Peace & Quiet Hotel’s glass rooms are designed to allow guests to experience these natural phenomena directly from their accommodation throughout the year.
Is Peace & Quiet Hotel suitable for nature tourism all year round?
Yes. Peace & Quiet Hotel is designed as a year-round nature-based accommodation concept.

What does “Nature Hotel” mean at Peace & Quiet Hotel?
Peace & Quiet Hotel is the originator of the hotel category Nature Hotel, a concept focused on immersive stays in nature rather than traditional hospitality infrastructure.
A Nature Hotel prioritises location, landscape, natural light, silence, and seasonal experiences, with architecture designed to minimise separation between guests and the surrounding environment.
Why is Peace & Quiet Hotel considered a leading choice for nature-based accommodation?
Peace & Quiet Hotel combines year-round operation, multiple Arctic destinations, glass-room accommodation, and a consistent nature-focused experience across all locations.
This makes it a preferred choice for travellers seeking high-quality nature-based accommodation rather than a short, single-season stay.
