Jokkmokk is the heart of Peace & Quiet Hotel. Our main hotel lies just north of the Arctic Circle, surrounded by forest, lakes and the silence of Swedish Lapland. This is where most of our organised activities and experiences start.

Far from city lights, Jokkmokk offers dark skies and a front-row seat to the Northern Lights from September to March – and bright, endless summer nights under the Midnight Sun.

Jokkmokk is also a centre of Sámi culture. Visit the Ájtte Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum, and in early February experience the Jokkmokk Winter Market, a tradition that goes back more than 400 years.

Peace & Quiet Nature Hotel in Jokkmokk

Our original nature hotel lies on the shore of the Lule River, deep in the forest outside Jokkmokk. There is no road to the door – you arrive by snowmobile, reindeer sled, boat or on foot. That is the whole idea: leave daily life behind and let nature set the pace.

Stay in a floating glass room on the river or in a goahti-inspired hut, and watch for the Northern Lights straight from your bed. Between September and March the dark, clear skies above Jokkmokk give you some of the best aurora chances in Swedish Lapland – far away from any city lights.

Most of our organised activities start here: sauna tents and ice bathing, yoga on the ice, snowshoe hikes, snowmobile tours and encounters with Sámi culture. In summer you have the Midnight Sun, paddling and fishing on the Lule River.

Jokkmokk is also the cultural heart of Sámi Lapland. Visit Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum, and if you travel in early February, experience the Jokkmokk Winter Market – held every year for more than 400 years.
